What the AI Visibility Checker measures

AI assistants increasingly send shoppers to stores they can read and trust. This free tool scores your storefront on the public signals that determine whether you show up in those answers — no login or install required.

  • AI crawler access — whether ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and other AI search crawlers are allowed to read your store (in robots.txt and at your CDN).
  • Structured data — whether your Product, Offer and Organization schema expose the fields AI needs (price, availability, brand, GTIN).
  • Commerce & agentic readiness — whether an AI shopping agent could actually read your product pages and prices.
  • Crawlability & content — HTTPS, sitemap, canonical tags and server-rendered content.
  • Emerging AI filesllms.txt and agents.md (weighted lightly, because the evidence for them is still thin — we stay honest about that).

Why AI visibility matters for Shopify stores

When a shopper asks ChatGPT or Perplexity for a product recommendation, the assistant can only suggest stores it can crawl and understand. If your robots.txt blocks the search crawler, your product schema is missing prices, or your content only renders in JavaScript, you can be invisible to AI even while ranking fine in Google.

Frequently asked questions

Is this really free?

Yes. The score and your top issues are free with no login. To unlock the full report, auto-fix your store and see whether AI is actually driving revenue, install Kedra AI Index.

Do I need to install anything to get a score?

No. The checker reads only public signals (your homepage, robots.txt, sitemap and structured data). Deeper checks that need store access live inside the app.

Does blocking GPTBot hide me from ChatGPT?

Not necessarily — GPTBot is OpenAI’s training crawler. ChatGPT Search uses OAI-SearchBot, and the in-chat browser uses ChatGPT-User. The checker tells these apart so you don’t accidentally block the ones that affect visibility.

Is llms.txt important?

It’s an emerging idea with little proven impact today, so we weight it lightly and label it honestly. It’s easy to add, and Kedra AI Index can generate one for you.
