What the App Can’t Do

Kedra Checkout Rules is focused on checkout customization through rules and conditions. Here are some things the app does not support.

Checkout UI Customization

The app cannot add visual elements to the checkout page:

  • Custom checkboxes (e.g., “I agree to terms and conditions”)
  • Custom input fields
  • Banners or informational text blocks
  • Trust badges or payment icons
  • Custom buttons or widgets

The app works by modifying which payment and shipping methods are shown and how they’re named/ordered — it does not add new visual elements to checkout.

Tip: Checkout UI customization typically requires Shopify Plus with Checkout UI Extensions, or a separate app designed for that purpose.

Cart Page and Storefront

The app does not modify anything outside of checkout:

  • Cart page layout or functionality
  • Product pages
  • Home page or collection pages
  • Customer account pages
  • Express payment buttons on product or cart pages (these are controlled by your theme and payment provider settings)

The app cannot add:

  • Terms and conditions checkboxes
  • Shipping policy agreement checkboxes
  • Age verification checkboxes
  • Custom consent fields

These require Checkout UI Extensions (Shopify Plus) or a dedicated app.

Customer Metafield Comparisons

The app cannot compare a customer metafield value against a cart value (e.g., “block checkout if cart total exceeds the customer’s credit limit stored in a metafield”). Conditions check against fixed values you set in the rule, not against dynamic metafield data.

Draft Orders

Rules do not apply to draft orders created in the Shopify admin. See Does the App Work With Draft Orders?.

Payment Processing

The app changes which payment methods are visible and how they’re named — it does not:

  • Process payments
  • Add new payment providers
  • Modify payment gateway behavior
  • Add payment method icons or logos (these come from the payment provider)

Per-Product Shipping Discounts

Shipping discounts apply to the entire shipping rate, not to individual product shipping costs. You can’t discount shipping for one specific product while charging full shipping for another in the same order.
