Getting started with Kedra Checkout Rules takes just a few minutes. Here’s how to install and set up the app on your Shopify store.

Step 1: Install the App

  1. Go to the Kedra Checkout Rules listing on the Shopify App Store.
  2. Click Add app.
  3. You’ll be redirected to your Shopify admin. Review the permissions the app requires and click Install app.

The app needs certain permissions to work with your checkout — these include reading and writing payment, shipping, and discount settings during checkout.

Step 2: Open the App

Once installed, you can access the app from your Shopify admin:

  1. Go to Apps in your Shopify admin sidebar.
  2. Click Kedra Checkout Rules.

You’ll see the main dashboard with a welcome message and quick links to all features:

  • Checkout validation — create rules to block or warn at checkout
  • Payment rules — hide, rename, or reorder payment methods
  • Shipping rules — hide, rename, or reorder shipping methods
  • Discount shipping — create conditional shipping discounts
  • Checkout links — generate pre-filled checkout URLs

The dashboard also shows a summary of your active rules across all types.

Step 3: Create Your First Rule

Click the Create rule button on the dashboard, or navigate to any feature section to get started.

Good to Know

  • No theme changes required. The app works within Shopify’s native checkout system using Shopify Functions. There’s nothing to add to your theme code.
  • No impact on store speed. Rules are evaluated by Shopify’s own servers during checkout, not by external services loading on your storefront.
  • Test before going live. Every rule has a Test mode so you can verify it works before activating it for all customers. See Understanding Rule Status.
  • Rules are independent. You can create multiple rules of different types and they all work together without conflicts.
