Rule Settings
Rule Name
Enter a descriptive name for internal reference. Customers never see this.
Rule Status
Choose Test, Active, or Inactive. See Understanding Rule Status.
Rename Settings
The rename section has three fields:
1. Payment Method to Rename
Type or select the payment method name you want to change. The app matches this against the original method name shown at checkout.
Choose how the app matches the method name:
| Trigger | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Equals to | Matches only if the full name is exactly what you typed |
| Not equals to | Matches any method that is NOT the name you typed |
| Contains string | Matches if the name includes your text anywhere |
| Not contains string | Matches any method that does NOT include your text |
Tip: If you have multiple payment methods with similar names, use Equals to for precision. See How to Find the Exact Original Method Name.
2. Rename To
Enter the new name you want customers to see at checkout.
Example: Rename “Credit card and other payment methods” to “Apple Pay | Google Pay and more”
3. Case Sensitive
When enabled, the match is case-exact. Leave off for most use cases.
Validation Trigger (Conditions)
- Always — rename applies to every checkout.
- On condition — rename only applies when your conditions are met.
Common Examples
Add delivery info to a payment method:
- Method: “Cash on Delivery”
- Rename to: “Cash on Delivery (pay when your order arrives)”
Clarify a redirect payment method:
- Method: “Credit card and other payment methods”
- Rename to: “Apple Pay | Google Pay and more”
Rename a method for specific countries:
- Method: “Bank transfer”
- Rename to: “Bank transfer (Sofort)”
- Condition: Country → Equals to → Germany
Good to Know
- Shopify Plus required for Credit Card (Shopify Payments). Renaming the default Shopify Payments credit card method requires a Shopify Plus plan.
- One rename per method. If multiple rename rules match the same method, results may be unpredictable. Create one rename rule per method name.
- The rename only changes the display name. It does not affect how the payment processes or any backend functionality.
