Set Up Free Shipping With Conditions

Free shipping is one of the most popular uses of the Discount shipping rule. Here’s how to set it up with conditions like minimum order value, specific products, or customer location.

Basic Free Shipping (All Orders)

  1. Click Create rule → Discount shipping.
  2. Discount type: All shipping free.
  3. Discount label: Enter a name (e.g., “Free Shipping”).
  4. Validation trigger: Always.
  5. Click Save.

This makes every shipping option free for every customer.

Free Shipping Over a Minimum Order Value

  1. Click Create rule → Discount shipping.
  2. Discount type: All shipping free.
  3. Discount label: “Free Shipping”.
  4. Validation trigger: On condition.
  5. Add condition: Order subtotal → Is greater than → enter your threshold (e.g., 99).
  6. Click Save.

Customers with orders over $99 get free shipping. Orders under $99 see regular shipping prices.

Free Shipping With Product Exclusions

A common scenario: offer free shipping on orders over $99, but not if a specific product variant is in the cart (e.g., oversized items, specific sizes).

  1. Click Create rule → Discount shipping.
  2. Discount type: All shipping free.
  3. Discount label: “Free Shipping”.
  4. Validation trigger: On condition.
  5. Add conditions (both in the same group — AND logic):
    • Order subtotal → Is greater than → 99
    • Product variant option → Not equals to → “30ML” (or your excluded variant), set to For all products

Important: Set the product condition to “For all products”, not “For at least one product.” This ensures the rule only applies when every product in the cart passes the condition. If set to “For at least one product,” the free shipping would still apply as long as any single non-excluded item is in the cart.

Free Shipping for Specific Countries Only

  1. Click Create rule → Discount shipping.
  2. Discount type: All shipping free.
  3. Discount label: “Free Domestic Shipping”.
  4. Validation trigger: On condition.
  5. Add condition: Country → Equals to → your country.
  6. Click Save.

Free Shipping on Specific Methods Only

If you only want to make certain shipping methods free (e.g., “Standard Shipping” is free but “Express” is not):

  1. Click Create rule → Discount shipping.
  2. Discount type: All shipping free.
  3. Select shipping methods: Discount on selected methods.
  4. Type/select: “Standard Shipping”.
  5. Add conditions as needed.
  6. Click Save.

Combining Multiple Conditions

Use condition groups to create complex free shipping rules:

Free shipping for domestic orders over $50 OR any order over $150:

  • Group 1: Country → Equals to → US AND Order subtotal → Is greater than → 50
  • Group 2: Order subtotal → Is greater than → 150

Groups are connected with OR logic — either group triggers free shipping.
